T 1.1 INVITATION FOR QUOTATION TO UNDERTAKE AN INDEPENDENT ROAD SAFETY APPRAISAL

CLOSING DATE (AT 11:00): Monday, 24th March 2025.

AfriCoast Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd was appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) for the RIMS Operations and Management System in the Western Cape. The project falls within the West Coast South System District.

The scope of the project is to conduct a road safety appraisal of a National Route N7 Section 3 at KM 2 which includes the Moorreesburg Weighbridge Station, and an intersection leading to Moorreesburg on the west side of the N7, as well as section KM 67 to KM 75 at the Kardoesie, and Piekenierskloof Pass near Citrusdal, Western Cape. The main concern is the increase in incidents at the intersection as well as at the access of the weighbridge station. An in-depth analysis is required to investigate the access to and from the weigh station and the intersection leading to Moorreesburg for optimization of access geometry and operations; and the pass Kardoesie and Piekenierskloof, for justification of climbing lanes for safer operations.

Time frame
Therefore, firms with road safety and traffic engineering experience are invited to submit a quote to undertake an independent Road Safety Appraisal. A clarification meeting will not be held, but prospective tenderers must familiarise themselves with the site.
